We are so delighted to offer for sale Mungoswells' Brown Flour. This is an 85% extraction flour, which has the goodness of wholemeal, but with some of the bran removed to lighten the loaves.

"...Mungoswells Mill has decided to concentrate on producing an ’85% extraction’ brown flour instead of separate white and wholemeal. Milling the one grade of flour will simplify and speed up production to address a big backlog of orders with a nutritious and tasty solution.
White flour from roller mills like the small Mungoswells operation in East Lothian normally contains only 72-75% of the original wheat grain, with the most nutritious bran and wheatgerm removed for animal feed or the extraction of vitamin E by the pharmaceutical industry. Wholemeal, as the name suggests, contains 100% of the wheat grain. ’85% flour’ is somewhere in between, with a substantial amount of fine bran and the crucial wheat germ oil in it compared to white flour. In the war, this was called ‘National Wheatmeal’."

We have used Mungoswells flour exclusively for years in our farm kitchen and our sourdough breadmaking workshops, I can not tell you how much joy it brings us to help spread the Mungoswells love a bit further afield.

All of the grain used in our range of flour is milled within 5 miles of the mill in East Lothian (about an hour away from Gartur). We are so proud to support the loveliest folks at Mungoswells and their farmers. .

Bags are 1.5kg, 8kg or 16kg each.

We aim to dispatch within 2 days of ordering. Orders are shipped with APC Next Day Delivery. You will receive shipping confirmation when APC scans your parcel, this can be a few hours after your parcel leaves the farm.

Delivery for up to 20kg is £3.50 for EH and FK postcodes and £7 to the rest of the UK.
